Lori B. Lewellen is an associate in the Fort Lauderdale office where her practice focuses primarily on medical malpractice, general liability and insurance defense. Ms. Lewellen obtained her undergraduate degree in English with a minor in Psychology from The College of New Jersey in 1992. She worked for several years in the insurance industry, including as a Director of Claims for a national managed care organization. She later returned to continue her studies at Nova Southeastern University, graduating with her Juris Doctor in December 2002. While in law school, Ms. Lewellen founded PULSE! the Health Law Students’ Society. The organization, which continues to thrive today, educates law students, attorneys, members of the health care community and the general public about health law issues. Prior to joining La Cava & Jacobson, P.A., Ms. Lewellen handled the defense of medical malpractice, general liability, insurance defense, nursing home and premises liability cases.
Ms. Lewellen is admitted to practice in the state of Florida and is an active member of The Florida Bar, Broward County Bar Association and Florida Defense Lawyers Association. In 2003 Ms. Lewellen was admitted to federal court in the Southern and Northern District of Florida and the United States 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
