Mario Gomez

Mario Gomez was born and raised in Miami Florida receiving his undergraduate degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1998 and his Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in 2000.  He graduated with honors and was a recipient of the Pro Bono Silver Medal Award in 2000.  He began his legal career successfully completing two consecutive Judicial Internships with the United States Department of Justice helping various federal judges research complex legal matters and drafting their legal opinions.

From there he began practicing as a civil litigation attorney on the plaintiff’s side.  Within two years he was recruited by a large insurance defense firm after trying a case against one of their top trial attorneys.  He spent four years with that firm focusing on representing insurers and their insureds on general liability matters, in a wide range of claims, including but not limited to catastrophic personal injury claims stemming from automobile losses, trucking, premises liability, medical malpractice, negligent security, asbestos, coverage matters, and bad faith litigation defense.  From there he spent ten years as in-house counsel for the largest privately held automobile insurer trying their personal injury cases and coverage matters.  He also worked as claims counsel overseeing high exposure cases represented by outside defense firms to ensure proper handling and billing practices.  Before joining LaCava Jacobson, he worked another six years as a trial attorney continuing to focus on catastrophic personal injury claims involving premises liability, automobile negligence, trucking, and negligent security.  Mario has gained significant trial experience throughout his over two decade career.  He has first-chaired dozens of cases to verdict.

Mario has given dozens of seminars on issues of general liability defense, coverage matters and bad faith litigation.  He is an active member of the Florida Bar.  Since joining La Cava Jacobson, Mario will continue handling general liability defense, automobile liability defense, insurance issues, and general civil litigation matters.
