Melissa Alvarez was born in Queens, New York and raised in Naples, Florida. Ms. Alvarez attended the University of Central Florida and graduated cum laude from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2012 with a major in Legal Studies. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Ave Maria School of Law in 2020.
While in law school, Ms. Alvarez was a member of the Moot Court Board and competed in a national appellate competition in San Francisco, California, where she won First Place. After law school, Ms. Alvarez completed an externship with the Office of the Public Defender, served as a corporate legal intern for the Hertz Corporation, interned with Florida Gulf Coast University general counsel’s office, and gained invaluable experience at various private law firms in the southwest Florida area. She then joined La Cava, Jacobson & Goodis as a law clerk being extensively trained in handling the defense of professional and general liability cases.
With this experience and training, Ms. Alvarez has joined La Cava Jacobson & Goodis as an associate and will be concentrating her practice on the defense of general liability and medical negligence cases.
